Constitutional Medicine for Herbalists
In this class we take an overview of many of the traditional modalities of medicine that make use of constitutional types. Looking for cross comparisons of Ancient Greek medicine, Ayurveda, and Classical Chinese Medicine allows us to examine how constitutional models have helped herbalists over the millennia give herbs to people for more than just their symptoms in a “use this for that” way. A grasp of constitutional medicine is one of the critical starting points for being able to “treat the whole person,” and not just their symptoms. In addition to ancient views, we will also bring modern perspectives to these constitutional models.
This class is taught to the level of the very serious student of herbalism who has already had at least a year of study. However, “clinical herbalism” is not only for professionals. Learning how to take care of yourself, your family, friends and neighbors at an advanced level can be an incredibly important skill to share with the people you care about. We consider these skills to be part of rising to the challenge of being an even more amazing grandmother or wise uncle!
