Tualatin Hills Nature Park in July 2022

Along the paths of Beaverton Creek and Cedar Mills Creek, we get to explore this fantastic wildlife area and wetlands. There are ponds, trails and areas of very old foret with giant trees… Oaks, Douglas Firs, Western Redcedars, Ashes, Maples, and many more. We will get to observe and identify dozens of native trees, understory shrubs, herbs and wildflowers… and talk about their edible and medicinal properties… all while walking on well-maintained easy trails that still feel wild and secluded. Besides the plants, we may spot numerous birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals that make their homes in the park.

Hiking difficulty: Very, very easy

Our half day plant walks take us to close-in, easy, accessible and family friendly locations in the Portland area. Children 12 and under are welcome free with a paying adult. Study in the field includes botanical identification, ecological awareness, discussion of harvesting techniques and considerations, medicinal uses both traditional and modern, and medicine making.
