Salmon River

The pristine old growth forests of the Salmon-Huckleberry wilderness provide a unique opportunity to experience the undamaged magnificence of the west side of Mount Hood. Mature Western redcedars, colossal douglas fir and other conifers show their wisdom and hold the land and spirit of these dense woods. Rare and beautiful flowers, understory plants, lichen and mushrooms complete this “habitat of medicine.”

Hiking difficulty: Very Easy

This is a full day of plant medicine exploration. Study in the field includes botanical identification, ecological awareness, discussion of harvesting techniques and considerations, medicinal uses both traditional and modern, and medicine making. Tincture tasting may be included, with the opportunity to purchase plant medicines if desired. We will take a mid-day lunch break.
