Medicinal Plant Hikes in 2024
Our Friday plant walks take us to close-in, easy, accessible and family friendly locations in the Portland area. Some are gentle walks and some are more involved hikes (read about each hike in the description below).
Children 12 and under are welcome free with a registered adult. A few of these hikes are even toddler or stroller friendly.
Study in the field includes botanical identification, ecological awareness, harvesting considerations, and learning traditional and modern medicinal uses.
Live Online Classes
In our Plant Medicine series of classes we follow each plant on a journey to understand its place in the world and the way it interacts with human health in body and spirit-mind. Instruction is focused on forming healthy and beneficial relationships as we work to make effective medicines that honor the plants while helping people.
These series are designed to be taken in any sequence, so feel free to jump in at any time!
Each month-long course focuses on a different group of 15-30 plant medicines, covering:
Ecological roles in their native habitat
Detailed materia medica including contemporary and historical medicinal uses
Herbal energetics and organoleptics
Medicine making techniques
Some of the Plant Medicine courses have optional tincture packets so you can sample the herbs as we discuss them!
(Enrollment in the Plant Medicine Series is included in the All Inclusive Herbalist Training Program)
