This fantastic iconic hike is about more than vistas and waterfalls. We will explore the trees, understory, and other important medicinal plants native to the Columbia Gorge, including rare endemics. We will be able to examine and study the way fire-adapted plant communities recover and thrive as we work our way up through the many habitats of different elevations.
Hiking difficulty: Moderate. About 4.5 total miles round trip with 1500 feet of elevation gain.
This is a full day of plant medicine exploration. Study in the field includes botanical identification, ecological awareness, discussion of harvesting techniques and considerations, medicinal uses both traditional and modern, and medicine making. Tincture tasting may be included, with the opportunity to purchase plant medicines if desired. We will take a lunch break at the top!
