This island of extraordinary plants and rock formations is not far away in a remote ocean… it’s a close-in gem, hidden in plain sight in the middle of the Willamette River! Incredible mature forest and riverbank herbs make this a favorite place for studying plants. Willows, giant Cottonwoods, Oak, Maple, Dogwood, and the mysterious Madrone all make up a diverse forest canopy.
Easy hiking, majestic trees, and lots of riverside habitat… come study plant medicines in this very special spot!
Our half day plant walks take us to close-in, easy, accessible and family friendly locations in the Portland area. Children 12 and under are welcome free with a paying adult. Study in the field includes botanical identification, ecological awareness, discussion of harvesting techniques and considerations, medicinal uses both traditional and modern, and medicine making.
