Medicine Making I - Infusions, Decoctions and Water Extractions

There’s a lot more to water extraction than just making tea! In this class we will cover all the different methods, discussing the exact way to make medicine-strength standard infusions, decoctions, cold infusions and draughts and get the most healing benefits from your medicinal plants. We will cover measurements, constituent solubility factors, ratios, surface area and the science of medicine making. Live demonstrations of the methods will let you see first hand how to prepare terrific medicines yourself. We welcome you back to in-person herbal medicine classes!

Our outdoor classroom is at the Sherrett Food Forest. There will be a plant sale on the same day, so if you arrive a little early you can buy produce and amazing garden plants and trees for your home.

To bring: At least one personal drinking vessel for samples. Note taking materials. Clothes for staying very warm and dry. Good boots. We will have some kind of small heat source, but essentially we will be under shelter outdoors and Spring weather is variable. Bundle up.
